Brucha Klotchman (daughter of
Yidel Lieb Klotchman) was born in Medzhibozh
on July 3, 1899. After her mother died in 1917, Brucha was alone
at home and ran her father's small store until 1920. Brucha left
for the U.S. in Sept. 1920 at the urging of her father. Brucha traveled
with the Rose Klotchman family (her aunt) as one of 3 daughters.
The group was lead by Joseph Klotchman and included mother Rose,
sisters Dora and Sarah, Dora's fiancé Max Braiman, and Sarah's fiancé,
Sam Herman. The trip took 3 months because of lack of money when
they reached Paris. They wired to their U.S. relatives for travel
money. The group sailed on the S.S. Victorian from LeHavre, France
to St.John, New Brunswick, Canada, where they arrived on Dec 19,
1920. They entered the U.S. by rail at Buffalo, NY, per the St.Albans
manifest records. Brucha was known as Belle in the U.S.
