Yidel
Lieb Klotchman was born in Teofipol (Lat 49-50N, Long. 26-27E),
Khmelnitsky oblast, Ukraine about 1850.
Yidel's father, Usher Klotchman was born in Teofipol, about
1810. Usher built a small general store in front of his house in Medzhibozh
where he sold general merchandise. Usher died in 1905 in Medzibozh,
at 95 years of age, when he fell and broke his leg in middle of winter.
He probably died of pneumonia.
Yidel married Sluva Marder in Medzhibozh, Ukraine, 1878. Sluva
was born in 1865 in Medzhibozh. She was the daughter of Chaim Marder
and Libby Gochman. Sluva probably had no siblings. A cousin adopted
Sluva at age 2 when her father died, because her mother could not
take care of her. Sluva married at age 13. She died in the winter
of 1917 in Medzhibozh at 52 years of age. The cause of death was probably
pneumonia.
Yidel
Lieb worked as a miller in a water-powered wheat mill in Medzhibozh,
some distance from home. He stayed at the mill all week and came home
for the sabbath. He bought the small general store from his father
Usher. Following the death of his wife and his daughter Brucha's departure
for America in 1920, he moved to Khmelnik where he lived with his
daughter Sonya and her family. Yidel Leib died in Khmelnik, probably
about 1930.
